                       30 minute session, simple background or natural light. 3 retouched image files & 20    lightly touched image files, plus 30% off any prints or canvas wraps. 4. In Stock Frames & Sample Images: I have a LOT of frames and sample products for sale CHEAP. If you are interested in coming by and taking a look, send me an email. I will try and post pictures soon of what I have.  I also have several beautiful sample prints I have had up in the studio or stored. Come and get them for $25 regardless of size or mounting (so this includes wraps). Saying Goodbye~

Dear clients, friends, family, & colleagues...I have a very big announcement that is breaking my heart to make. After 13 years in business we have decided to close down my studio. Quite honestly the busines of this industry has become way too inconsistent over the past several years and we just can't continue to ride this roller coaster; It's time to give my family, and myself, some stability and stress relief. Sometimes the hardest and strongest thing to do IS walk away and thats what I am having to do now. This business has given me so much and I have done so much more than I ever dreamed I could and for that, I am greatful.

To my clients...ugh, the tears flow when I think of not watching your littles continue to grow up. I cherish the moments I spent with you and the honor of protecting those memories for you. Thank you all for your business, support and love over the years. I am truly heartbroken right now to make this decision but I know its for the best for my family. I thank you for your business and letting me pursue a dream that has been mine since I was 10 years old. I don't regret any of it, I am just sad to close this door.
I will be posting more information on my Blog over the next few days about dates, Santa info & specials I'll be running for puchasing previous sessions and files and sample prints so keep an eye out. I am referring anyone that I can not photograph to Tracey Taylor of Taylor Made Photography. Tracey has a residential studio in Pflugerville and is one of my closest friends. Colleagues, I wish you the best of luck in this industry. I know some have found ways to survive or thrive and I am truly happy for you. For those who continue to struggle and try to keep going, you are in my prayers. I think so much has changed in this industry and I am very happy that I was in this field during its "Golden" time. I hold no ill will towards any group, in the end we make our own decisions and we have to be who we are and do what makes us happy. The only thing I would ask to remember is to give your clients the quality that they deserve, you do this for them, not you. Its their memories you preserve and you should feel honored to have people trust you to do that. Good luck~

To the amazing friends I have made in this industry, I will continue to cherish you & love you more than I can say. You have inspired me, made me grow and reach, and supported me. I hope to still see you around, maybe I'll crash some conferences :)

To the vendors who have supported me & helped me...thank you. I hope that you will survive in this crazy industry! My lab, BWC has been my lifeline over the years. Lou George, the owner of BWC, my friend you have helped me and supported me more than I can ever say. I love you dearly and you will forever have my gratitude.

And most importantly to my family.... Thank you to my husband, Justin Turner for supporting this crazy ride for the past 13+ years, it's because of you that I can say I lived my dream and that I was able to do any of this. My children Dan Turner, Josh Turner & Cassidy Turner who have been amazing and never made me feel bad for missing things because of work, you've always been the most important things in my life and I thank you for always understanding that. To my mom, Cory Pollard, who not only supported and encouraged me, but rode this ride for many years with me, I couldn't have kept going without you. To Jon & Gayla that have helped me set up several studios, painted, decorated and were my cheerleaders. I love you all more than I can say and I thank you for taking this journey with me.

 So that's it for now. Right now I am working on taking a massive inventory of what I have, a task that has me in tears one minute and laughing the next at "what was I thinking with that". I will be selling off 15 years worth of props/costume/clothing and equipment. I am working on a list, if anyone is interested in something specific you know I have contact me asap. These sessions are perfect for babies (over 2 months), toddlers, older children, family, senior & maternity portraits when simple is what you need. Here are the details:

DIGITAL MINI SESSIONS: $250
Includes a 30 minute studio session, 1 outfit & background.

All images on CD sized for all of your digital needs such as email, website, Facebook, digital frames etc. Images will be cropped appropriately with light finishing to make them print ready. The full resolution files will be uploaded and stored by Pro Pics, a professional lab that will handle printing any prints you need up to 11x14, including some canvas sizes. Pro Pics pricing is geared toward the consumer with prices as low as $10 and they will ship your prints directly to you. My files are calibrated to their printers for guaranteed beautiful prints! You may print with Pro Pics for up to 60 days.

Take 10% off my regular pricing if you want me to print larger prints for you or take 20% off canvas groupings of 3 or more!

Want the full files? Add $200 at the time of booking and I will include the full resolution files for printing up to 11x14. (Sizes 16x20 and larger  must be printed through AMIT, special care needs to be taken with larger prints to insure their quality.)

August Happenings at the studio

It's just amazing to think that July is already gone and August is here in full, heat force.  It's been a busy month for us, especially the last couple of weeks. 

I had surgery last week (just a hernia surgery) but its put me on restrictions for the next couple/several weeks which gives me a lot of time to plan new sessions and get ready for...yes...THE HOLIDAYS!

My daughter, Cassidy, starts her senior year at the end of the month, which just completely blows me away. I can not believe she is 17 already (going on 30) and starting this last year of regular school. I know it seems cliche, but it seems like only yesterday she was starting school (5 going on 30). She leave in a couple of weeks to spend a week in New York with her Aunt exploring the city and all of the touristy fun. She has always wanted to go to New York and I'm just hoping she'll want to come home.

So what's new at the studio:

1. We did a little more remodeling and have a permanent AC system in there now, which is great when the heat hits these records! Justin is awesome as always and installed it just like I needed.

2. The outside is toasty, we have not been able to keep up the heat so once it cools down a little I'll need to do new plantings for outside pictures BUT I'm seeing some wildflowers coming back up so I'm hoping we'll have some pretty fall colors not too far from now.

3. I'm considering an August Mini Session with a vintage outdoor (or inside looking like outdoor) kid Look. I'm thinking a canvas "tent", balloons, paper hats, pin wheels, RR tracks, and the sort. This could be a very fun Back to School Session!

4. Custom jewelry coming....handmade by ME! I have always loved the idea of making jewelry and in fact I have done several pieces for friends and family and now I'm going to be offering a line that includes photos and non photo pieces. I will also be taking custom orders. I am currently working on samples and will post pictures and pricing as they are ready to be released. Let me know if you have anything specific that you'd be interested in and I can see what I can do!

5. "Behind the Red Door" Sessions! I am SO excited about the Red Door sessions. This past month I did a session for my friend as a anniversary gift for her husband. We had such a blast with the session and needless to say, he was speechless.  I received a very nice 'thank you' text.

What Are They? These are "Boudoir" type sessions that are all about YOU, whoever that may be or whomever you may want to be. They are tasteful, beautiful images that will be sexy & beautiful for ANY body type and any personality. Remember, I'm not a tiny person, I know the "normal" concerns we women have, and I know how to pose and light to enhance your best assets and minimize your problem areas...that's the perk to hiring a professional photographer, its what we do. Red Door sessions are not all about nudes or lingerie it can be an out fit that you (or he loves) it can be a team jersey, or his uniform there are numerous ideas and we will discuss them to design a session that will give you many options based on your personality and comfort zone.

I have teamed up with Mary Kelly, Owner of Salon Kerizma to offer full make up and hair either at her salon or in the studio. Some music, wine or tea and a couple of hours to photograph several outfits and looks are what will be included in these sessions. Hair and makeup can be added but are STRONGLY encouraged for the best results in your portraits.  I am working on a whole separate site for these sessions with samples and before and after shots.

The final product will usually be a book or album, image box or wall portrait. I am creating specific products and pricing just for this line. ALL image will include complete retouching which can be as extensive as you want it to be. Within this retouching I am able to smooth skin, remove blemishes, light circles, enhance eyes, minimize body size, fix hair....just a plethora of options for you. This being the case, I suggest booking your session 6-8 weeks before any deadlines you may have such as birthdays or anniversary's and several months in advance of a date such as Valentines Day.

It's July and that means it's time to book SANTA Portraits...yes thats what I said

Its that time of year, I know its hard to believe when its 100 outside but I always book my Santa Portraits in July so we are all set and know how many sessions I need to plan for in November.

This year I have heard a lot of people talking about the strict budgets they are on and needing a little break. Unfortunately with Santa I have many added expenses so I can't go as low as I would like to but I did come up with a wonderful "Special" to try and help out (see below).

If you have not seen my Santa Portraits before you're in for a treat. I have worked with "Santa" for 10 years now, this will be our 11th. He is well trained for portraits and just a wonderful person for the kids to get to spend time with. They can bring their list and read it to him, tell a story and share a cookie....It's magical. Many times during these sessions I tear up because it's just so heart warming to see the kids with him, the trepidation for his arrival, the joy when they finally get to talk to him, even the tears when they're still a little afraid....its what childhood is all about.

Quick Take Limited Editions for the Summer!

Normally our extensive sets & costumes are only offered as full cretive sessions with a higher session fee and minimum order. This year I am offering them, for the first time ever, as a Limited Edition Quick Take which means a lower session fee & lower pricing! I expect these sessions to sell out fast so please contact me ASAP to schedule your session and reserve your package! 

Pictures of the Docks Days and Sea Shells & Sand Castles are on a previous post. I will be adding more pictures over the next days but many can be seen on my website at www.JenniferTurner.net Sets may be a little different, but these images will give you a good idea of what to expect.

Take me Out to the Ball Park - June 14 - 15th (late afternoon and evening sessions available) - 15 Minute sessions. 1-3 Children Max (depending on sizes needed for the costumes). A whimsical vintage "Sandlot" set complete with boys & girl vintage baseball outfits! We'll provide the popcorn! This set is appropriate for babies thru approx 4 years old, depending on their size. Older children can be photographed but you will need to bring overall or jeans for the set.

 Dock Days - June 21-22 - 15 Minute sessions. 1 Child only on the set at one time, we can photograph more than 1 but they will be photographed individually only. This set is best for babies sitting up thru about 2-3 years old. "Fishing clothing" and overalls are best for this set. I do have a limtied number of overalls if you dont have them, contact me ahead of time to see.

Sea Shells & Sand Castles - July 12-14 - 15 minute sessions. 1-3 children max (depending on costume sizes needed). This is a beautiful set complete with real sand (yes you will take some of that home with you!), seashells & sand castles complete the set along with vintage "Shore" clothing for a beautiful and whimsical look! Babies to approximately 4 years old for this set, again dependant on the childs size.

About Quick Takes: Quick Takes are faster sessions than normal. Clients must arrive approx 10 minutes before their appointment time to prepare for the session. Clients should come with their children ready to be photographed including hair done and clean faces. If you will be using our costumes, please come in easy to change clothing.

Images will be posted online for ordering although you may request an ordering appointment if you will be purchasing an art piece or wall portrait.

If you can not make the exact dates of these sessions, please contact me, we may be able to work out a different day.

 Orders are due within 7 days from the day we post your images. There are no minimum order requirements for Quick Takes.

Pictures on the Ranch

I love this time of year because I can shoot on location more and more. This was not always my favorite thing to do, I love being in the studio where I can not worry so much about the equipment and concentrate on the kiddos. Lately though I have found a freedom in being on location and having to find my light and my background, I am loving it! We had such fun here, this is a great property with SO many places to shoot...and I have been told that I could bring families or children out there to shoot, so if you're interested in that, send me an email! And don't delay, we're not getting much rain and right now there is still beautiful flowers and great places to shoot in the greenery!

Had such a great time with this session, we shot until there was literally no light left which is how this beautiful image was made. This location is on her ranch in Liberty Hill, beautiful property, beautiful girl, beautiful horse...sigh, makes my job easy :)

It's Heeeeree - My new vintage couch

Justin picked this up for me yesterday down in Houston, I am in LOVE! Its so cool, Im thinking outside in a field with families, babies...anyone really! Im even trying to figure out how to get it into the bluebonnets! This picture was taken at 7:00pm, love the light change for later pictures and mix it with this beauty and what an original/unique portrait you can have!

Bluebonnet Update!

BLUEBONNET update! Ok so I have found a patch of bluebonnets near me, which means if I can go get my new cool vintage couch we'll be in business. BUT they are still filling in AND we're about to get hammered by storms..I am praying my little patch is still there tomorrow. I'll post tomorrow and in the meanwhile I am figuring out what we'll be offering!

I also have a line on a small but beautiful patch at a friends ranch, if we go there we can also do shots on their property. Its gorgeous!

Blubonnets Coming (hopefully...)

So the weather is hot and muggy already, but cloudy skies actually makes it easier to photograph outside! Although the bugs are plentiful, the darker skies make all of the colors stand out and look fabulous. The farm is feeling all of this now, green grass is growing and the wildflowers are starting to come up. We dont have bluebonnets on our property unfortunately so I am on the lookout for a great spot to photograph, let me know if you find anything!!

I hope you're all enjoying this warm weather, I am SO thankful for the rain even though I love the sun. Our pastures are turning greenm, the animals are grazing and we're just having a great time.

Model Needed - 18 month - 2T Girl for Spring Portraits

Looking for a girl, 18 mos - 2T (small, needs to fit into my dress) to do some outdoor Spring shots. long hair that can be curled would be great but short hair is ok too. Will be photographing outside possibly with my bunny and or lamb or baby goat.

Details: My studio on our farm in Liberty Hill, $75 print credit and no session fee. Session would be around 5:30PM during the week so keep that in mind.

What to do in case of a kitchen fire

Had to share this, I always knew to not throw water on a grease fire, but I did not know that sugar or flour coul dbe bad, in fact I heard that flour was good to use. Best thing, have a kitchen rated fire extinguisher handy! Read on though:

I was Executive Director of the Institute for Burn Medicine for San Diego and Imperial Counties when we lived in California. Besides raising the money to establish a Burn Treatment Center at the University Hospital there, I conducted extensive public education campaigns in Burn Prevention.
A friend recently sent me the attached short video - and like an old fire-horse, I heard the bell ring and am rushing to send this excellent prevention piece to each of you. It is well worth watching! And it could save your life.

I never realized that a wet dishcloth can be a one size fits all lid to cover a fire in a pan!

It's a real eye-opener!!
At the Fire Fighting Training school they would demonstrate this with a deep fat fryer set on the fire field. An instructor would don a fire suit and using an 8-oz. cup at the end of a 10-foot pole to toss water onto the grease fire.
The results got the attention of the students. The water, being heavier than
oil, sinks to the bottom where it instantly becomes superheated.
The explosive force of the steam blows the burning oil up and out. On the open field, it became a thirty-foot high fireball that resembled a nuclear blast.
Inside the confines of a kitchen, the fire ball hits the ceiling and fills the entire room. Also, do not throw sugar or flour on a grease fire. One-cup of either creates the explosive force of two sticks of dynamite.
This is a powerful message...watch the video and don't forget what you see.
