So Ive been thinking, I have these beautiful fairy costumes on loan from a friend of mine and what do they look like? Sugar Plum Fairys!! Santa Sessions Were SO fun!

Santa has returned home to the North Pole to finish up making all of the toys from the lists of my little cutie pies that come and visit him each year. We had a few "first timers" this year, but most all have seen him for many years now and have grown up with the "real" Santa each year at Miss Jens :) I LOVE this time of year, getting to see all of my clients who come in yearly now that their kiddos are older, its such a treat to see them getting so big! Even the parents are excited to see the big guy! And keep an eye out on the BLOG, we may be offering this set as a "Limited Edition" without Santa for the holidays...I'll post soon about that!

Our first Residential Session

Hi All, so for those who haven't heard, I have moved my studio back to my residence in Liberty Hill. We're in the process of building out the space for studio shooting but I did my first outdoor shoot here and wanted to share it. What a fun time we had! There were so many spaces to shoot and we havent even gotten to landscaping!

We will be offering these sessions on a limited basis so if you are interested, call today! We are finding the best time of day to shoot is mid afternoon, in the 3:30-4:00 range.

Last year I did a beautiful painting of "Santa" called "Time to Ride". I'm releasing these prints as a limited run (only 50 will be available) These are signed Limited Edition Art Prints and 10% of sales will be donated to a local children's charity. So, we have THREE major construction projects right now, 1 downtown off of Mopac and 45th and 2 in Liberty Hill that we are working on. It occured to me as I plan these out, that many of my clients work in the construction field and flooring, windows etc and might want to trade out services for portraits! What we need:

1. Painters
2. Drywall
3. New Windows
4. Flooring
5. Plumbing
6. Basic landscaping (no sprinklers)

When I do a barter, we swap dollar for dollar so essentially you bid the project and I give you portrait credit to match that bid. Sometimes we do 100% swap, sometimes 50/50...I'm open. Model Call & Photography Classes by Jen!

Models Needed!!
Several times a year Jen premieres new props, clothing or sets that she needs models for. Sometimes its just to have some creative time to do whatever she wants to do, this time its both! We're updating our website, prepping for the holidays and working on some new sets & products and we needd your help!

You receive: a free session, a free 8x10 & 25% off any additional purchases from our "Associate Pricing" which can be found on the AMIT website by clickingHERE.

How it works: Its a creative session so Jen essentially does whatever she feels at that time. She'll contact you ahead of time regarding clothing choices, if there is any, and what she'll be doing. Your images will be posted on line to view and chose your free image. You will have 7 days from the time they are uploaded to chose your images. If you decide to have holiday cards printed you can come in to the studio to look at our templates, or you can look at them while your are here as well. Sessions can last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more.

What ages and types are needed?:

Newborns up to 3 weeks old. The smaller the better on this one as we'll be posing them in baskets and "tighter" areas. Baby will not be clothed for these images but may be wrapped in blankets, fabric, etc.

Babys 6 months-9ish months - Must be able to sit up un-attended. We'll be shooting a promo for our "Merry Christmas Ya'll" set on one day and just playing on another day. I have overalls and clothing or you can bring some if you have fun "Cowboy or Cowgirl" attire.

Dates: September 1-3rd

Just in time for the holidays, a class on taking top notch pictures of your child(ren) & family! Jen teaches pro photographers all over the nation and now she brings that knowledge to you! Learn how to capture moments during family activities in a beautiful and artistic manner as well as learning to look for or create the right lighting and environment for these images. No more "snapshots", learn to tell the story.

Whats covered?: Lighting - inside & outside ("seeing" the light). "Posing" that doesn't feel posed, getting their attention for the shot, action shots, "A Day in the Life" portrait essays, preserving your images, displaying your images in creative and fun ways. We'll also cover some specifics such as photographing around the Christmas tree, large family groups (for that fun holiday get together), photographing in the evenings..and more! You can even send in specific questions ahead of time and we'll cover them in class.

We will be printing a final image of yours as a "graduation" gift at our pro lab as an 11x14!

Ok so a friend of mine in California has been trying out a different type of session for people who want digital files from their sessions. She set pricing for specific sessions and then offered discounts for prints...sounds interesting! So Im going to give it a trial run and see what I think. This may not be available forever and the pricing may change once I try this and see where we end up. Since this is a trial, there is a deadline on when this offer will end -

Sessions must be booked BEFORE September 31st, 2009. A $100 Retainer is required to hold your session date.

Ok Im trying out some new scenes and props so I need models!

1. Newborn - on the small side to do a creative sessions with me using more "untraditional" surroundings like OUTSIDE (nice and warm) late evening appt and also inside putting them into windows, chairs and baskets. These sessions are baby only and smaller the better for the inside shots, outside can be either.

2. Tweens! 8-12 year old girls, urbany type look or just funky. Late afternoon, early evening appointments outside and inside. Again, this is a creative session which means I am just going to play! Final products are fun, funky portraits. I'll be doing some boy shots later, this one is all girlz!

Shot on a solid black background, these are the perfect prints to accent with Santa hats, or any holiday apparel, ornaments, gift boxes or anything! Order them now and have plenty of time to get out your cards early!

October 30th - Halloween/Fall Portraits - QUICK TAKE - $99+ tax (1-8x10 or 2-5x7s & 3-4x6s & 4 wallets) this is the only Quick Take we are doing this year. 15 minute session of your child or children in their costume. Fall scene available and Im working to see if we can offer a second scene that's more "Halloween-ish" for those who want that, or possibly just a solid black to really make the costumes stand out. We'll also have Fall/Halloween greeting cards available and a special collage for the scrapbook available!

November 6-7th - Santa Limited Editions, $250 Deposit required to hold your spot, $100 session fee and $150 applies to your order. Spend over $300 and $200 will apply to your order! Special pricing & packages will be available. Theme this year is Santa's Workshop. One hour session, we'll do a few shots without Santa in case your child or baby gets a little frightened then work him in. Also for older kiddos, we'll send you a file with an official "My letter to Santa" template that you can have your child or children give to Santa to read together. This is more than portraits, its timeless memories of the wonder of childhood!

I am also working on offering video taping, but we have not figured it out yet.

November 19th - It's BACK! Merry Christmas Ya'll! - $35 for a mini session (25 mins) or $50 for a 60 minute session. Regular minimums apply.

A Texas Christmas Scene for kids or families. Perfect for greeting cards and family gifts. a Texas'y set ready for your cowboy hats, boots & jeans! For kiddos and babys we'll have several cowboy type props and we have overalls for most kids up to the age of 4.

I've been looking for some new products to show off, you all know how easily I get bored, and once again my frame company came thru with a new line of beautiful albums! I have ordered samples and am working to design a new line just for Baby Club members! These will be albums, folios & image boxes designed to capture each milestone of your baby's first year! They can actually be ordered for any occasion, but Im working on designing some new templates that will be available soon including one called "Love Notes" where you can write your baby a note and I will add them to the images in this line, what an amazing thing for your child to look back at when they have grown up!

Mad that you missed these and your baby is already over one? We can go back and print them anyway! Use images that you previously ordered and save!

Im working on getting pictures of the new albums right away and we may even run a special to launch so keep an eye out!

Little Evalynn is 7 months old!

And she is SO cute! I just love girlie girl pictures, they are so fun and you only get to do them for a short time. It doesn't take long before little girls have their own opinions about what they are wearing, take it from a mom of a 14 year old!

The dress was moms from when she was a baby, I always love photographing heirlooms like that, what a great gift when they get big!

July 19 & 20th my friend and colleague, Ana Brandt & are are teaching a workshop at my studio on maternity & newborn portraits. I am needing models to be photographed during the program. The Studio

Thanks to the well wishers as our family goes through a tough week with some emergencies that have overwhelmed us. We'll be closed thru Monday, possibly Tuesday. Double Graduation for me

So last night my 18 year old (middle) son graduated high school. Thursday my 14 yr old daughter graduated 8th grade and is now our last child in regular school...its unbelievable! It sounds cliche, but it just happened so fast and I don't think I really let myself think about it until I was sitting in the bleachers watching him with his friends in their sea of purple gowns ready to walk....my babies are almost all grown up. My sister in law said it perfect.."You blinked"...thats what it feels like, one day you blink and they are not the little pumpkins you had following you around, asking a million questions, their little world revolving around yours. Too fast.....

Photographer Play Time

Last week I was in California with a photographer friend of mine, Ana Brandt who I am doing a speaking tour with. We had some time to play with her new studio before anything was moved in and photograph some beautiful maternity images in some of the maternity gowns she designs and makes! It was so much fun and the energy was unbelievable!! Ana is fantastic and we had so much fun together! These images are called "Bella Vita" Images which is the workshop tour we put together so these images were done by the two of us.

Just in Time for the Summer Heat!

ADORABLE little B Man here is the perfect little fisherbaby :) I love this set and the funniest part was trying to keep the rubber worms out of his mouth! He was very taken with putting the worms in the can and taking them out and no we did not perch him near a real stream, this is a special enhancement that we can do in the computer, isnt it amazing! Thanks guys for letting me play!

I will be announcing a Limited Edition run with this set very soon which will have some enhancements added into it So keep an eye out for it! This is the perfect summer set, great with overalls, or cute khakis like hes wearing and the hat is a must of course! We have overalls and a hat but feel free to bring your own.

Sing Safety Day!! May 16th

Hi all, I just wanted to tell you about a special day (free to the public) being put on by Sing Orthodontics called Sing Safety. May 16 from 10am - 2 pm they will have free ID kits, self defense classes and much more! I was hoping to participate but unfortunately I am out of town that weekend but its a great way to learn some new safety awareness and I know they will have a lot of fun and informative things going on. This will be in the same complex as our studio but in the back buildings. Hope you can make it!

Our new Baby Set!

Just got this yummy new set put together for babies! Isnt it great! very graphic and just pops with personality! Of course our model is adorable and really makes these fun! She is 4 months old, almost too young for the hat box so I recommend babies who can hold their trunk up for lengths of time but is great for little ones who are not quite sittingup right. These are my outfits so they are available as well to use! solid colors work best and fun colors! I love the idea of tourqoise, Aqua or seaform, hot pink...anything like that! The white fur is great for them to lay on and a soft pink blanket would be great as well. Dont forget our petty skirts! ruffles galore! This set will only work for small babies up to about a year, not big enough for older kiddos unless its a head and shoulders shot. Enjoy! Senior Sessions Starting!

We're doing a few last minute Senior Session for 2009 and just had to share this one. This is Jesssica, she'll be graduating from Hutto HS this year and then on to college to eventually become a pediatrician. She was so much fun to work with and was a great sport to sit thru 300 images! The shot in the doorway is a "Coutour" image which essentially means I made the dress that shes wearing! We took yards of fabric, a bunch of tulle and of course a lot of clips and pins and created her own one of a kind gown for this shot, it was great fun and of course shes gorgeous so my job was pretty easy!
