Happy Holidays & Miss Cory!

Hi all, we have been so busy that its been hard to make sure I keep the BLOG up to date, but I had to do a quick post and thank all of my clients for your support and business this year. It is a wonderful thing to be able to do what you love and its because of my clients that this is possible. THANK YOU!!

I wanted to let everyone know who hasn't heard that Cory was in an unfortunate accident last week and fell and broke her hip. Shes had to have hip replacement surgery and will be out for many weeks relearning to get around with her new hip. Of course this has been a huge impact on the studio especially at this time of year so please bear with us during the next few weeks as we get along without her. Keri has really stepped up and been a huge help And with her, Dan & I in the studio, we are working hard to keep everything moving as it should. Thank you ahead of time for your patience!!

With all of this going on, I will have to cut back some on my photography availability until we can get her back in and working again so please contact us well ahead of time for sessions as session time will be limited and priority given to my current clients (we have essentially stopped taking many new clients right now so we can service, with excellence, the ones we have).

I think that is it for now. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a joyful, peaceful New Year!!

Summer Offerings & Our Events Schedule thru the End of the year!

It is a HOT summer, the garden looks gorgeous but photographing in it is definitely a timing thing so if you are wanting outside pictures, we need to talk soon, by August I think it will be miserable!

Thanks to everyone who participated in our survery, its always enlightening to see how we are doing and the type of sessions you are all interested in. The great thing is that our customer service and product quality all scored in the extreme high range! Yea us! Pricing is always an issue and we are always looking for ways that we can cut costs for you, especially these days, but also run a small business which is also extremely expensive with todays economy and gas prices which effect everything we do including our prices we pay our vendors to ship to us. So know that we are aware of how hard it is for everyone and will always do our best to keep pricing where it needs to be for us all.

With that in mind, I have a special that I am announcing on the BLOG first, so those of you who have signed up have first chance at this. Im going to give a special pricing a try for a few weeks and see how it goes. Now this is going to have limited days because in order to offer it, we have to make is cost effective for us as well so what I am going to do is run a flat "Unit" price for images from sessions that we have during specific days of the week for the summer. These prices will not apply to any special events or limited editions we run, but do apply for family pictures, Baby Club & Watch Me Grow sessions. So here is goes, any sessions shot on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday have the following pricing (& schedule now, I will be out of the studio beginning next Thursday for one week hosting a Childrens Photographer Conference here in Austin so sessions are limited):

New Sessions:
Std: $65 unit
WMG: $60 Unit
BC: $55 Unit
Take $15 off all 11x14s
10% off all Wall portraits 16x20 & Larger

What is a Unit? It is the same pose printed on a sheet (ie. 1-8x10, 2-5x7s, 2-5x5s, or 2-4x6s, )
You can not mix poses within the unit, each unit must be one pose, but each one can have a different pose.

Wall Portraits: Save 15% on all wall portraits 16x20 and larger.

ReOrders: Save 20% on all re orders a previous session! Save 25% on wall portrait from a previous session!

File Sale: Well our best of intentions on image file storage has not come to pass yet, its so time intensive that we have not had time to go thru and purge sessions SO you win! We are offering a mega sale on image files from 2007 & 2008. $150 buys you all of your images (Previous sessions only) Thats a $100 savings from our normal pricing for files!

Limited Editions & Events Coming Soon! Watch your emails because we are about to send out our calendar of events from now until the end of the year! This includes Santas sessions, a special on greeting cards, a charity event we will be hosting called "Alex's Lemonaid Stand (benefitting pediatric cancer research), "By the Shore" sessions, Fall Leaves, Greeting Card days, Halloween Quick Takes and then of course Santa, did we mention that? Summer Hours & Info

Hi there, wow has summer hit us HARD, I can't believe its already soo hot! The good news is that the garden's are gorgeous, the bad news is its hot as heck during the day so if you are interested in an outdoor session, you'll need to plan ahead so that we can schedule an appropriate time which is fairly early in the morning or late in the evening. Morning appointments should be around 9am and evenings around 5:30. The evening appointments are limited and there is an additional $25 charge for evening appointments mainly because I have to pay someone to stay and assist me and that means overtime :) 9am appointments do not have any additional charge at this time.

This week we are also starting summer hours for shooting. Our normal open hours for shooting and consultations will be 10-1pm Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. I will also have some limited Friday hours and of course we are still open one Saturday a month but those times are filling fast so if you need a Saturday please call now and schedule. We have our Saturdays scheduled through the end of the year.

Thanks all, I hope you are having a wonderful summer so far!

We're on the front cover!

Hi all, well what a fun Mother's Day surprise for me to find that we made the front cover of the Round Rocker Leader Newspaper this Saturday! Debbie Fowler (Seton MC William's L&D Clinical Manager) and I were interviewed earlier in the week about the new photography program I put together for the hospital. Today at HEB my husband grabbed a copy and said )across the check out line) "you're on the cover!" very fun! The article is also on their website so if you didnt see a copy, take a look, its very exciting! (except for the picture of me that looks like Im eating something sour :) he hee, now you know why I like to be behind the camera!)

What's up?

Hi all! I have been so bad about posting lately! Life has been crazy, we have had so much going on with the new "Sweet Pea Portraits" business and the studio! We take on our next hospital, Seton Medical Center Northwest, next week (May 15th!) Angie will be kicking off that location and will be out of the studio quite a bit while we get everything settled there. With that in mind, I want to welcome Chantel who will be working at the studio doing many of the jobs that Angie did from Sales to Assisting. She is great and you will love her! Will will miss having Angie around though whiles shes kicking this off, shes barely taken any time off in the last year and a half since she started so it will be wierd not having her around as much! But once we have things settled in she'll do many different things so don't worry, you'll get to see her.

WE'LL BE IN THE ROUND ROCK LEADER THIS SATURDAY! The RR Leader is doing a story on Sweet Pea Portraits and SMC Williamson and how Debbie Fowler and I put the program together, whats involved and a little about the studio. Its very fun and will have pictures of the display we have at the hospital so check it out if you get a chance. They will also run it on their website www.rrleader.com

Father's Day! Father's Day is coming up and we have a special new present just for him. Im still working on details but essentially its called "Love Letters to Dad" and is a folio with one of your images on one side and an envelope on the other. In that envelope we will have your child/children write letters to dad that we will fold up and put in there for him. If your kiddo is too little for letters you can help and sign it with a hand print or something and include a note from you telling him what a great dad he is. This would be a great tradition to start! I am finalizing sizes soon and you may come in for a session for these or use images from a past session. This is guaranteed to bring tears to the strongest mans eyes!

There is SO much more coming up. I just spent the last week at the Texas School of Professional Photography, a school I attend every year for a week and studies with 2 amazing photographers who take the word "art" to a whole new level. I am excited to see how their styles impact me and the new products that will come from so many great ideas they shared! "Love Letters" is the first (how about using them for a maternity image to a new dad, your picture for an anniversary...ideas are endless!). "Love Stories" are next...just WAIT till you find out what THIS is!

Pictures of our "Bon Jour" set

As promised here they are. The only thing missing is the "awning" that will go in the front, that should be installed tomorrow. I just love this set!

Bon Jour!

Whats that mean? what's she talking about? what's going on ?

hmmmmm, well to give you an idea...I've been set designing again. Its been awhile but this set has been in my brain for quite some time. Picture this..if you will...a French Sidewalk Cafe, some fresh flowers for sale on the wall behind, pinks, greens and a touch of black...oooolala!

Pictures coming soon, this set is on our back porch and is turning out beautifully! Sessions are best with toddlers and older children as they have to be able to sit in the chairs un attended. This is a scenic set, perfect for painting! Sessions are best mid day or early to mid afternoon as the sun is best then.

We have a great pettiskirt in pink & black for older toddlers or I saw some gorgeous pink & black outfits in Georgetown at a children's boutique called Just Kids & More http://www.justkiddsandmore.com/ her clothing is wonderful! very beautiful, whimsical & fun..what a perfect fit for our portraits! Tell her we sent ya if you go there!

Book now, this set wont be available forever!

Bun-Buns

Hi all, just a quick fun idea for Easter pictures, we have this adorable set for a cute little baby bunny. Just some ears and a "cottontail" and we have an adorable idea for Easter. I also just purchase a pink diaper cover with a "cottontail" and a little ears headband from one of my favorite childrens clothing store in Georgetown. Very fun and make great Easter/Spring cards!

"Lil Boxers". "Girlfriends" & "Shabby Chic" Sessions

Hi all, we've done a few of our modeling sessions. Unfortunately between weather and some arm issues IM having, I havent been able to contact as many people as I would like to have. But IO had to share some images from these sessions, they are so fun and so beautiful!

Many people have asked me to descrive the "Shabby Chic" sessions, essentially I have several vintage prom dresses and clothes that we are paring in some unusual ways. In doorways, outside, etc. I hve included a couple below that are just gorgeous! Its a special lense that I am shooting with and I literally was in the camera room, agains the window on the floor to get these but it was worth it, they are sooo pretty.

New Frames

Hi all, as promised here are some of our new frames. The frames on the display tree (which you can come to the studio to see) are gorgeous "Paige Pea Designs" frames. She is an interior designer turned photographer who created a whole grouping design concept called "Wall Spaces" groupsing many different sized prints with coordinating frames. We have over 100 different groupsings which we will be calling "Wall Stories", a better match for my "storytelling" style of photography. I am SO excited to offer these frames, each one is hand made and can be matched to you decor with tons of different colors and patterns. The more whimsical polk dots and stripes are from "Wild Sorbet" and are also handmade, custom frames. These are a few samples of colors, but there are tons of different colors you can chose from or go with simple distressed woods or metallics. If you would like to think about ordering some of these frames, give us a call and we'll schedule you for a "Framing Consultation" with Jen or Angie. Or better yet...lets shoot a whole session based around these frames!

Sweet Pea's First Baby is Born!

Welcome to Baby "J"! He was born this week at Seton Williamson and was the perfect first baby to work with! He was beautiful and slept through the whole session (which was longer than normal of course because, well you guys know me, I can't stop shooting when they are cooperating so well!) Angie and I had so much fun with him and look forward to the next SMCW babies!

Our new frames are here!

Ok, I'll post pictures in the next day or so but we are carrying 2 new lines of frames that I am SO excited about! They are handmade and each one is unique, they are very whimsical and perfect for both a child/baby's room or your living spaces! One line really is very whimsical with polka dots, stripes and bright fun colors, SO cute! They even have what they call a "Crib Frame" which is 15 x 36 and perfect to fit right over the crib. They show it in a lime green and pink, SO cute! The other line is what I call "Whimsy Chic" meaning that its a litle less cutsie and will fit perfectly in more formal living spaces, shabby chic areas, dining rooms, even bathrooms and kitchens! They have patterns that are a little more classic with TONS of gorgeous colors including soem beautiful metalics. You have to see them to appreciate them. One of the companies has also designed an entire book on laying out beautioful groupings in your home. The author is a photographer and interior designer so it takes all of the guess work out of it. She has even included stairwells! Each frame is custom designed with your colors and style and the layout is all set for you including instructions on hanging them! Keep an eye out for these, they are sure to be a huge hit so make sure youre the first one to have one!

Modeling Sessions & Our updated website

Hi all, first of all if you havent visited our galleries on the main website in a while, take a look. We've updated them with many new images and it s a great way to plan your next sesson.

Im excited to say that we will be starting our modeling sessions this week, if you did not receive an email about it, go to our main website and sign up for the newsletter. I put out a call abou a week ago and the response has been so tremendous that we had to move sessions to this week. Im still trying to figure out where to put people! Some of the sets you'll be seeing soon are:

* French Cafe: an outdoor set on our back porch complete with retro pink & black Cafe sign. Bring your pink poodle and sunglasses, this will be SO cute!

* Boxer Boy: Retro kids boxing gloves and silk shorts, we'll be setting up a "ring" with our hardwood floors for some fun images.

* Day at the Beauty Parlor: If you love some of the Gail Goodwin greeting cards with reto hair dryers and fun dressup, you'll love these sessions. I found a pink hairdryer, some fun glasses, curlers now all I need is a cool retro "starburst clock" and we'll be set...c'mon Ebay!

* Shabby Chic: Old prom dresses mixed with the outside, two elements not usually seen together...very fun sessions for our "tweens". Lets see if I can drag our victorian couch out into the grass....hmmm....

Stay tuned, we'll be posting images as we have them!

I was looking through my Feedburner stats which is the services that manages my email notifications and I noticed a lot of people Googling scrappbook pages and petti skirts/childrens clothing and ending up at my Blog, which is great! But probably not if you are trying to buy them :) So, for those who find there way here because of that, here are 2 of my favorite links for those things:

Display update

Just thought id share some funa bout the installation at the hospital. This picture is the back of my Jeep packed full of the artwork for the hospital and this is us getting ready to unpack it. We had a whole unpacking crew and lined the hallways with the images while I figured out where to put them all! It was a blast and the display looks amazing! We got lots of kudos on it from everyone there and the first tour was on Saturday during the big Gala Saturday night. From what I hear there was lots of excitment about it! How fun! I had someone describe it as "that artwork that looks like Anne Geddes's work"...since she is my inspiration, that was a HUGE comment!

The Display is UP!

Over the weekend our display was hung at Seton Williamson. It created a lot of buzz and was greeted with excitement! I was SOOO happy with how it came out, we hung 49 pieces total throughout Labor & delivery, the NICU and mother/baby wings and theres still more to go! If you have some time check out the link in the previous email to see when they will have the tours so you can go check it all out. The hospital is doing SUCH fun events during the tours and open house so its definitely a great time to go see the whole hopsital which is just beautiful! Here are a few of the pieces we hung.

Jen is decorating the New Seton Williamson Womens Center!

Hi there, I am SO excited to announce that I was selected to decorae the labor & Delivery & Mother/Baby wing of the new Seton Williamson Hospital! We will be installed over 30 images in the halls of the wing, all focusing on my favorite Newborn Art! We are so excited and would love for you to be able to see the display at the amazing new facility. I have been so blown away by the architecture and thoughtfulness that is this new hospital. Their staff is just the best, many I have met through my work with Now I Lay me Down to Sleep and am so excited to work with them so close to home.

We were also asked to design a new program for newborn photography at the hospital! That being my specialty and love, I of course said yes. The greatest part is that the hospital wanted a totally new concept in newborn photography, they wanted their patients to really experiance a professional photo session and have really beautiful first images of their baby. It has all come together and with the opening of the hospital we will be launching "Sweet Pea Portraits" a Division of A Moment in Time Portrait Design. I am SO jazzed about this program. We will be doing a mini version of my Newborn Studies as well as a beautiful more colorful version of newborn portraits. I am working with Angie to get her trained in working more with newborns so she will eventually be the main photographer at the hospital, which is a perfect medling of her talents which is beautiful photography in a faster, higher volumn. All of you who know me know I like to take my time, so she is the perfect choice to head this up. Eventually we will be hiring others to help her as I think the hospital will really be growing fast. We will also probably be looking for help at the studio as her time is spent more with Sweet Pea. Its a very exciting time in my career, to see some of my dreams grow and become available to more people and still allow me to shoot at a slower pace and really enjoy my time with my clients...well its just more than I could have imagined!

Here is the link to the new hospital and its opening events and tours.

I hope to see you there!
